Art & Design Creative Director

Purpose

Provide design and brand leadership for North Point Creative Services.

Overview

As part of the Creative Services team at North Point Ministries, the Art & Design Creative Director is a hands-on design leader who can direct both internal and external creatives toward outstanding design solutions in partnership with our ministries and churches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise all work completed by the Design team.

  • Ideate and develop creative direction for artwork to be implemented by the Creative Services team for adult and student ministry environments. This includes key art and branding for message series, events, and campaigns.

  • Design engaging content intended for use on multiple platforms including live environments, print, web, film, social media, and other digital mediums.

  • Coordinate with members of the Film, Campaign, and Export teams within Creative Services as they produce videos, motion graphics, and other various deliverables.

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders and ministry representatives from a project’s preliminary development to its completion.

  • Work with other Creative Services department directors to establish and monitor best practices for the Creative Services team.

  • Suggest improvements and changes as needed to meet ministry and messaging requirements and optimal visual direction.

  • Continually grow and inspire a community of outside designers that reflect a wide range of styles, technical skills, and experience.

Required & Desired Qualities

  • A heart for the local church and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • Design experience in multiple platforms including live environments, print, web, film, social media, and other digital mediums. Must understand design considerations specific to these platforms.

  • Must be able to work within different brand guidelines while still pushing creatively.

  • Must have a passion for design that is evident in your portfolio and an interest and awareness of industry trends and best practices.

  • Ability to move projects forward with limited direction and direct the work of others as needed.

  • Expert proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Web design experience and familiarity with HTML/CSS is a plus.

  • Strong command of typography is a must. Ability to select and pair great fonts, modify and stylize them intelligently. Understands timeless principles, and also knows how to disregard them intentionally.

  • Motion graphics and 3D skills are a valuable addition. Some familiarty with these workflows is recommended.

  • Requires attention to detail and a desire to pursue “the last 10%” to take projects from great to amazing.

  • Requires a high degree of adaptability, professionalism, creativity, and organization. Multiple projects with competing deadlines are common as well as occasional quick-turn requests.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, share reasoning for design decisions, accept feedback, and admit when you’re wrong or don’t know.

Work Schedule

Full time • 40–45 hours per week • Monday–Friday or Sunday–Thursday
